Wedding Photography at Chipstead Golf Club – Philippa & Manuel

So how exactly do you plan a wedding in the UK, when you and your Fiancé both live in Spain? Well that’s exactly what Philippa and Manuel managed to do! Philippa left England a few years ago when an exciting teaching position became available in Madrid, little did she know she would end up meeting the wonderful Manuel out there! Philippa’s mother got in contact with me at first and told me all about the plans so far, I then popped round for a cuppa and a tour of her fabulous garden (I received some advice about my hydrangeas too). It all sounded rather exciting, another cross-culture venture for little me!
Philippa and I managed to set up a Skype call soon after, during her lunch break in her classroom to be specific (of course it was raining here, blue sky there). Having been through all the details, I knew this was going to be an amazing couple to work with. After many emails, phone calls, Skype conversations and a tour of the venues, we were finally ready to roll.
This summer got off to a blinding start, I recorded 36C in my car towards the end of June and hoped it would continue throughout July. Well, not quite. We didn’t get the crazy heatwave on the day, but the rain held off perfectly whenever we needed it to hold off. The ceremony took place at The Sacred Heart Church in Caterham, somehow Philippa managed to find a priest who was fluent in Spanish and able to translate himself during the marriage and his sermon! Afterwards, we decided to stop off at the wonderful Farthing Downs for a few snaps, before heading over to Chipstead for the reception.
Philippa and Manuel were simply awesome, I had a great day capturing their wedding and they really made me feel part of the family. It was great getting to know them as their wedding approached, and even better to shoot it for them. I loved having the creative freedom to do my thing, and the fact the these guys were up for anything! Philippa and Manuel – I thank you! Enjoy the highlights…
