Wedding Photography at the Great Barn – Cat & Matt
What a crazy summer we’ve had here in the UK – we only had two days of rain between May and mid August! If you live outside the British Isles and are not so familiar with our climate, we usually have a LOT more than that. Constant rain mixed with showers as my Dad says. We haven’t even had many cloudy days either, just consistent brilliant blue skys and golden evenings. I mean, perfect if you happen to be a wedding photographer like me! 35C is a little warm for us brits though, particularly if it’s still around 30C at night!
I thought I’d share a wedding that I shot in the middle of all that summer heat and goldenness – Cat & Matt at the Great Barn in Rolvenden, Kent. I love venues that are situated in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nature and wildness… exactly what the Great Barn provides. Cat & Matt (along with family and friends) had designed all the decorations and created the theme of the wedding themselves – every last detail.
I loved all their ideas, a cream tea directly after the ceremony, games hidden everywhere for the guests to stumble upon, Morris dancers out of nowhere… a giant lizard. Perfect! Most importantly, is was a delight to spend the day in the company of Cat & Matt! It was very easy to see why these two worked, what a great double act! We visited the venue a few weeks before the wedding and I could tell they were going to be great fun to work with, I could already see all the photos that I’d be taking a couple of weeks later.
Yes good weather helps, the light makes a big difference, the venue and all the other details play their part… but wedding photography is all about people and the connectivity between them. I think these two prove it! If you’d like to find out more, do get in touch!
