Peak District Engagement Photography – Mary & Reuben
The Peak District is one of the most amazing parts of England – it’s one of our national parks and has some of the most beautiful sweeping views in the country! It’s also home to some very interesting and quirky places too, such as Lud’s Church – a deep chasm penetrating the Millstone Grit bedrock, created by a massive landslip on the hillside above Gradbach. Perfect for Mary & Reuben’s engagement photoshoot!
We decided to meet in Gradbach Car Park, a five minute walk from Gradback itself. From there, we embarked on a short trip towards the River Dane, which glistened in the evening sunlight, wonderful. We then decided (courtesy of my intuition) to get completely lost (there is a sign for Lud’s Church, but I missed it)! However, what a place to get lost in!
After a few adventourous photos near the riverside, we eventually found our way into what felt like some sort of film set… think “Lord of the Rings” (that film with all the big beards). Lud’s Church isn’t at all a Church, it’s an amazing ridge surrounded by huge walls of mossy rock. We could actually feel the temperature plummet due to its natural insulation, quite bizarre!
It was great fun photographing these two back in May 2018. I later photographed their epic wedding in Manchester, do check it out here.
