Lucy & Josh’s Fun & Vibrant Wedding at The Dickens Inn

March 2024 kicked off with Lucy's message shuffling into my inbox (that pun's gonna pay off in a sec):

“We were drawn to you because we love the candid nature of the photos, an image taken in the moment. Being relaxed on that day is important to us, we feel like you would give us the opportunity to be in the moment and have it shown in the photos.”

I mean, right off the bat, these two are my kind of people. They’re all about the real stuff, no fake smiles or awkward poses – just pure, unfiltered moments. They bonded over their love of Alan Partridge (DAN!) and being the second youngest in a family of four siblings (that's a lot of presents at Christmas right?). On their first date, Josh made the legendary move of taking Lucy to Forbidden Planet, which she hated with every fibre of her being (that's the sort of thing I'd do actually... MEN!). Fast forward five years, here I am, capturing their big day. 😎 Jurassic Park.

Getting ready in the Tower Hotel, Lucy & Josh had a ridiculous view of Tower Bridge... which was practically in their room (I actually had to walk round it). After some pre-wedding photos, it was a short stroll over to The Dickens Inn, a venue that perfectly blends rustic charm with London style. Honestly, this place is a hidden gem, with all the vibes of a country escape, but smack-bam in the heart of the city.

One thing that was new to me - the phenomenon of Shuffleboard. Never heard of it? It's like a high-stakes, slide-y game where you use pucks to slide across the board and score points – a game that had their guests way too competitive for a post-wedding activity. No way you should be that devastated about losing a game. The shuffleboard table was definitely the best move of the day (apart from Josh marring Lucy).

So the evening! I’ve got SO many epic dance floor photos from this one... they even started with Dizzee Rascal's Dance Wiv (With) Me. The dance moves were... well... there were dance moves.. Everyone just let loose, living their best life with zero care in the world.

Of course, we managed to steal a few quiet moments outside in the evening light – just Lucy & Josh in the moment.

What a day. What a couple. What a wedding! 👏🎉
