Selden Barns Wedding Photography

Robyn & Morgan

An overview of Selden Barns (a heads up, it's pretty great):

If you've got your eye on Selden Barns for your wedding venue, hopefully this post will give you an insider's view of what you can expect on your big day. Located in Sussex, Selden Barns is one of those countryside gems that can cater for the bridal party getting ready (the boys too), the ceremony (up to 100 people, the reception (up to 230 people!!!) and all the evening guests you can think of, even random passers by. I photographed Robyn & Morgan's wedding there in the autumn and found the place to be very photogenic and easy on the eyes, it is beautiful. You get tonnes of space and there's plenty of green areas to explore, some of those areas will have sheep chilling out... so we are talking rustic/farm style here. I love it!

The practicalities:

You get a dedicated wedding planner who will not only be there on the day, but will welcome you anytime you want and show you around (which is what Robyn, Morgan & I did). You really get that "family warmth" when interacting with the staff, they are all very helpful and full of passion... they're very good at what they do because they love what they do. They have two family rooms with a 6-foot wide double bed, en-suite and further bedroom with full-size bunk beds, then there's five double/twin rooms with 6-foot wide double beds and en-suite facilities too. All of these rooms can be used for the preparations, but there's also a large room dedicated to the bride and her entourage. There's plenty of on site car parking and the staff will give you all the info about the local taxi services (they know Selden Barns well).

The vibe for Selden Barns wedding photography:

All those lovely flint & red-brick buildings, charming courtyards and rustic details? Yup, this place is pretty sweeeeeet for photos... your guests are going to get some bangers too! You can't help but have a good time here, there's plenty of room for full on function bands in the reception area (there's a stage), you're that far away for any neighbours that a proper firework display is just fine and the bar staff know exactly how to line the shots up! Robyn & Morgan wanted to throw a massive party and have a ceremony somewhere in the middle - what a great plan. They had an awesome day, so did their guests... so did I! I reckon that's a little nugget for you right there... a big party with all your family & friends... with a ceremony thrown in. Epic combo!

Should you just go for it and book?

Well look, I don't want to tell you what you should do... actually, yes I do. Go on their website (right here) and book a viewing... see it in person and chat to the very nice people there. Look at the smiles below - that's going to be you ;-) If you'd like to chat to me about my Selden Barns wedding photography, just give me a shout right here!
