The Old Rectory Estate Wedding

Lauren & Ben

It’s a very wet and rainy day today in London… a miserable looking Wednesday afternoon and I can’t wait for the Spring to arrive. We’ve had some pretty rotten weather in the last few weeks, I’ve had to replace three fencing panels and we’ve had to have our kitchen flat roof replaced. Go away winter!

Today I decided to blog Lauren & Ben’s wedding from late September 2019 (I’m trying to catch up) and going through their wedding again has put me in such a great mood! I’m not sure if serotonin can be released through photos of a sunny day, but it seems to have done the trick (I mixed in some summery music for good measure). See if it has the same effect on you!

Talk about great locations to work in, Lauren spent the morning getting ready at Nutfield Priory (feels like I’ve spent much of 2019 there), but I absolutely love its mystery and quirkiness. Their ceremony took place at a very picturesque Church in Merstham called St Katharine’s, just the most charming village Church you’ve ever seen… and that dark blue sky – just WOW! We haven’t even got on to the piste de resistance, The Old Rectoryin Bletchingley. A historic Georgian house that sits in the Surrey hills and makes for the perfect back drop to a summer evening’s celebration.

The house is set in eight acres of stunning Italian gardens which include water features, statues, topiary, arbours and a rose walk! The setting was absolutely beautiful and the grounds were immaculately maintained and well presented, just stunning.

Lauren and Ben were actually one of the very first couples to have their reception there, as they’ve only recently offered the grounds out to weddings. The Old Rectory certainly isn’t a stranger to drama, the house and gardens have previously been used in film, TV and magazines… even Victoria Beckham has been photographed there for Vouge.

What a day it was, Lauren and Ben were absolutely wonderful to photograph, and we had some great moments building up to the wedding too (testing some of the owner’s wine at the Old Rectory).

Thanks once again to Charlie Marshall for second shooting – epic job!
